A decision

The dry sand gave way under her weight. An unfamiliar feeling. All around the rocks seemed hot and sharp but the sunlight looked strangely frozen. There's much less movement here. This world is flat. She had almost turned back, but then realized no one had ever gone this far. No one even went this way before. And it was silent. The brightest green leaves she had ever seen muffled the roar of the surf at her back. It is very silent here. And though she struggled to breathe she thought she could almost hear the many voices of her childrens' children fill the bright air of this new, dry, world. She smiled and scurried for shade under the trunk of a fallen tree fern, already feeling her fins begin to change.
